STAND UP FOR ZIMBABWE: A GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION 25 MAY 2008 - LESOTHO
1) ACTIVITY/IES:
Radio Show: Realising that due to poor information flows in Lesotho, Basotho people do have sufficient information about the real situation in Zimbabwe particularly the human tragedy that has resulted, we have decided to hold a radio talk show in which Basotho, assisted by the Zimbabweans living in Lesotho, will get the full low-down on the crisis in Zimbabwe and apply their minds on the possible options to addressing it. The aim is to inform and sensitise the Lesotho public on the updates on the Zim situation. Many ideas are expected to be generated from this dialogue.

Panel Discussion: We further intend to hold panel discussions where different experts on political studies will share their view on the likely pros and cons of how President Robert Mugabe is removed from office and how we can possibly overcome problems attendant to that. We aim to have as objective a discussion as possible, free of the anger, outrage and emotion as has characterised many reactions to the Zim situation to date. We plan to invite as many Zimbabweans as posible to the discussion.
Press conference:  A Press conference will also be held with all media houses in Lesotho with the aim to sensitise everybody in Lesotho on the situation in Zimbabwe and how it is likely to affect other African countries.

Material Production:  We are in the process of producing different kinds of materials addressing the situation in Zimbabwe, such as newpaper articles, posters, banners and so on.

Prayer Meeting: The TRC wil hold a prayer meeting on the Solidarity Day in collaboration with  other NGO's and in particular the Cristian Council of Lesotho (CCL). The target will be to unite in thought and prayer for the numerous people who have been tortured and maimed as part of the Zim crisis.

Press Release: We will release another press lease on the human rights violations taking place in Zim and further condemn the perpertrators. We will also encourage that a fact-finding mission be sent to Zimbabwe to investigate the atrocities. TRC would like to be part of that mission.
