STAND UP FOR ZIMBABWE: A GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION 25 MAY 2008 - LIBERIA

| Publication of communiqué from the May 12-13, Abuja “West African Dialogue on the Political Situation in Zimbabwe” with theme: Institutionalizing Peaceful Political Transitions in Africa in at least two local newspapers in Liberia. A one day symposium that will bring together civil society organizations, political parties and universities and the government of Liberia. The symposium will focus on what input can civil society make in the political situation obtaining in Zimbabwe. A university Political science professor will serve as keynote speaker and he will address the symposium on the overall theme of the day. The symposium will also serve as a process of awakening the consciousness of the Liberian populace on the plight of Zimbabweans. At the end of the symposium a resolution will be drafted and presented to the Government of Liberia. The resolution will also request the Government of Liberia to ensure representatives of the Liberian civil society are included on its delegation to observe the Zimbabwe run-off elections . Massive pre and post media publicity will be given to the activities marking the commemoration of “Stand up for Zimbabwe Day” |
